The Future of Mobile Games
Mobile Games comes in all shapes and sizes. Some of them are more realistic than others. The first kinds are the arcade type games where the player has to defeat increasingly difficult virtual enemies and advance to further levels. There are also time management type games where the player has to complete a set of tasks in a specific period of time to advance to next level. Many other types are also available, where players have to move from one level to another or have to solve puzzles or find the required data and so on.
With the growth in popularity of mobile gaming, developers have started designing games, which are more akin to a console or PC title. This is evident in the increased number of highly interactive and hyper-casual games available on mobiles. They are generally more text based than their arcade or real life counterparts. Gameplay is more focused on a single interface rather than an elaborate storyline.
To cater to this new breed of players, many mobile development companies have started designing games, which are web enabled. These apps can easily be downloaded from the app store of either Google Android or Apple iOS. Due to the popularity of such apps, many third party developers have jumped into the arena and have designed different types of mobile games for niche audiences. Examples of such apps include applesaurus, dinosaur Vet, Candy Bear Rescue, and Kung Fu Panda. Developers have been able to tap into this massive audience and target them specifically by developing unique content for each app. The result is that users no longer have to choose between gaming options as they can now enjoy one which combines the two into a single game.
With more focus on location-based mobile games, the future for gaming is looking bright. With the increase in demand for in-app purchases and the integration of Google maps, the possibility of mobile games is only increasing. This is particularly true with the upcoming holiday seasons and major events such as the Olympics. As consumers become more familiar with the devices on which their favorite apps were developed, mobile game developers will be forced to create new games, which will entice consumers even more.
In the coming years, we can expect to see a sea change in the way that we play video games. Will our smartphones transform into mobile games consoles? Only time will tell.
